The goldfinch is one of our brightest backyard birds with the males sporting canary yellow plumage with black and white markings in the summertime. In the later half of the year, the males dull their colors down to camouflage better within the bare branches of winter. 🌼 Aerobatic in and out of the air, you’re likely to see these little birds clinging under a thistle feeder or bouncing on a thin grass stalk when landed. 🌼 Their flight pattern is distinct, undulating with a free fall between flaps and often calling with a soft, even cadence.
